Myth - Your business goal is to be "Child Friendly"

 

Reality - appearing to be Child-Friendly is a marketing tool to attract family shoppers.  It neither assures more sales or makes your business child friendly.  Often times what you attempt enables your business to be terrorized by maverick children, making for lost sales opportunities and higher anxiety in waiting rooms.

Being “child friendly” is not an effective solution to making sales or lowering parental and staff anxiety. 

 

That’s why playrooms and play structures waste your resources. Managing children & families in your business to achieve your business goals should be your objective.  We’d like to have children be inanimate and quiet, yet happy during their visit to your business.  That should be your goal too.   You might describe it differently with words like “quiet” and “angelic” but don’t fog up your focus.  You want to get business done with as little interruption as possible.  Being “child-friendly” doesn’t help you achieve your goals.
